World Day of Peace
Be peacemakers in a small corner of the world.

When is World Day of Peace?
Every year on January 1.
What is World Day of Peace?
The World Day of Peace on January 1 was established by Pope Paul VI, who announced it in December 1967 and first celebrated it on January 1, 1968, during the Vietnam War and the Cold War. Each year the pope publishes a message for the day on a theme such as justice, dialogue, migration or the environment. It is observed by Catholics around the world with prayers for peace, and the message is sent to world leaders.
