What is Data Privacy Day?
Data Privacy Day on January 28 marks the date in 1981 when the Council of Europe opened Convention 108 for signature, the first binding international treaty on protecting personal data. Europe observes it as Data Protection Day, and the United States, Canada and other countries took it up as Data Privacy Day. Companies, schools and regulators use the day to remind people to check app permissions, use strong passwords and two-factor login, and think before sharing personal information online.
