When is International Day of Education?

Every year on January 24.

What is International Day of Education?

The International Day of Education on January 24 was proclaimed by the UN General Assembly in December 2018 and first celebrated in 2019. It highlights education as a human right and as the foundation for peace, gender equality and development, at a time when roughly 250 million children and young people are out of school. UNESCO leads the day with a theme each year, and schools, universities and governments use it to push for quality learning for everyone.
