Shivaji Jayanti
Born to lead. Honoured to remember.

When is Shivaji Jayanti?
Every year on February 19.
What is Shivaji Jayanti?
Shivaji Jayanti, observed on February 19, marks the birth in 1630 of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj, founder of the Maratha Empire and one of the most celebrated rulers in Indian history. It is a public holiday in Maharashtra, with cultural performances retelling his military campaigns against the Mughal Empire, the Adilshahi sultanate and the Portuguese, his pioneering naval reforms, and his legacy of efficient administration. First marked in 1870 by the British Bombay Presidency, it has become a major cultural festival of parades, music, dance and the hoisting of the saffron Maratha flag.
