Black History Month
Black history is American history.

When is Black History Month?
From February 1 to March 1.
What is Black History Month?
Black History Month in February honours the achievements, culture and struggles of African Americans throughout the history of the United States. It grew out of Negro History Week, launched in 1926 by the historian Carter G. Woodson and set in the second week of February to include the birthdays of Abraham Lincoln and Frederick Douglass; it was expanded to a full month and recognised by President Gerald Ford in 1976. Schools, libraries, museums and media mark the month with lessons, exhibitions, films and events that tell the stories of Black Americans from the era of slavery to the civil rights movement and today.
