International Day of Clean Energy
Clean energy for all.
When is International Day of Clean Energy?
Every year on January 26.
What is International Day of Clean Energy?
The International Day of Clean Energy on January 26 was declared by the UN General Assembly and first observed in 2024. The date marks the founding of the International Renewable Energy Agency, IRENA, on January 26, 2009, and the day supports the UN goal of affordable, reliable and modern energy for all. Around the world it is used to promote solar, wind and other renewables, to push for energy efficiency and to draw attention to the hundreds of millions of people who still live without electricity.
