Revolution and Police Day
Courage remembered, voices raised.

When is Revolution and Police Day?
Every year on January 25.
What is Revolution and Police Day?
January 25 is a national holiday in Egypt that joins two anniversaries. Police Day recalls January 25, 1952, when Egyptian police in Ismailia refused to surrender their station to British forces and dozens were killed in the fighting that followed, and on the same date in 2011 the protests that began in Cairo's Tahrir Square launched the revolution. The day is marked with official ceremonies honouring the police and the fallen, and with memories of the 2011 uprising.
