National Crime Victims' Rights Week

Every victim deserves to be heard.

Today
National Crime Victims' Rights Week

When is National Crime Victims' Rights Week?

From April 20 to April 26.

What is National Crime Victims' Rights Week?

National Crime Victims' Rights Week each April honours victims and survivors of crime and the advocates who stand beside them. President Ronald Reagan first proclaimed it in 1981, at a time when victims had few rights in the justice system. Communities hold candlelight vigils, rallies and memorial walks, and the Justice Department's Office for Victims of Crime honours people who have advanced victims' rights.
