Artist as Outlaw Day
Make something worth the risk.
When is Artist as Outlaw Day?
Every year on January 19.
What is Artist as Outlaw Day?
Artist as Outlaw Day celebrates artists who have broken rules, challenged power and paid a price for their work. Painters, writers and musicians have long used art as protest, from Goya's images of war to banned books and songs that became anthems of resistance. The day asks what art can do in a world that resists change, and invites people to discover an artist who risked something to say what they believed.
