When is St. Stephen's Day?
Every year on December 26.
What is St. Stephen's Day?
December 26 is the Second Day of Christmas, a public holiday in all German states and in many other European countries. In the church calendar it is the feast of Saint Stephen, honoured as the first Christian martyr, who was stoned to death in Jerusalem, according to the Acts of the Apostles. In Germany families use the day to continue the celebrations, visit relatives they did not see on Christmas Eve, go for a winter walk and attend church.
