What is World Spaghetti Day?
Spaghetti Day on January 4 celebrates one of the world's most popular pasta shapes, whose name comes from the Italian spago, meaning string. Dried pasta was being made in southern Italy and Sicily by the Middle Ages, and spaghetti spread worldwide with Italian emigrants in the 19th and 20th centuries. The day is an excuse to cook a classic such as spaghetti alla carbonara, aglio e olio or al pomodoro, and to share it at the table.
