National Popcorn Day
Pop It Like It's Hot!

When is National Popcorn Day?
Every year on January 19.
What is National Popcorn Day?
Popcorn Day on January 19 celebrates one of the oldest snacks in the Americas: archaeologists have found popped maize thousands of years old in Peru and Mexico. A kernel pops because the water inside turns to steam and bursts the hard hull, turning the starch inside into a white foam. Popcorn became inseparable from cinemas in the 1930s, and it can be a wholesome whole-grain snack when it is not drowned in butter and salt.
