Ratification Day
From colony to nation.

When is Ratification Day?
Every year on January 14.
What is Ratification Day?
Ratification Day on January 14 marks the day in 1784 when the Confederation Congress, meeting in Annapolis, Maryland, ratified the Treaty of Paris. Signed in September 1783, the treaty ended the American Revolutionary War, and Britain recognised the independence of the United States and its borders reaching west to the Mississippi. Congress had struggled for weeks to gather enough delegates to vote, and the ratified copy then had to cross the Atlantic before the deadline.
