Kolyady
Sing the winter solstice into every home.

When is Kolyady?
From January 13 to January 14.
What is Kolyady?
Kolyady, or Koliada, is the winter carolling season of the Eastern Slavs, kept in Ukraine, Belarus and among Ukrainian and Belarusian communities abroad. Groups of young people, often carrying a star and dressed as goats, kings or other characters, go from house to house singing koliadky and shchedrivky, carols wishing the household health and a good harvest. The songs mix Christmas themes with much older pre-Christian midwinter rites, and hosts reward the carollers with sweets, food or money.
