Nauru Independence Day
From the sea, freedom rises.

When is Nauru Independence Day?
Every year on January 31.
What is Nauru Independence Day?
Nauru Independence Day on January 31 marks 1968, when the island became an independent republic after decades as a UN trust territory administered by Australia. The date was chosen to recall January 31, 1946, when Nauruans who had been deported by Japanese forces during the Second World War returned home from the island of Truk. The world's third-smallest country by area, after Vatican City and Monaco, celebrates with sports competitions, cultural performances, music and community feasts across the island.
