National Youth Day
Young voices, big futures.

When is National Youth Day?
Every year on January 12.
What is National Youth Day?
National Youth Day in India on January 12 marks the birthday of Swami Vivekananda, born in Kolkata in 1863, the monk and thinker who introduced Hindu philosophy to the West at the 1893 Parliament of the World's Religions in Chicago. The government declared the day in 1984, seeing in his call for strength, service and self-confidence a message for young people. Schools and colleges mark it with speeches, essay and debate competitions, sports, yoga and community service.
