Day of the Dead
Celebrating those who live on.

When is Day of the Dead?
Every year on November 2.
What is Day of the Dead?
Day of the Dead, celebrated in Mexico on November 1 and 2, welcomes the souls of loved ones back for a brief visit. Families build ofrendas, home altars with photos, candles, marigolds, sugar skulls, pan de muerto and the favourite food and drink of the departed, and spend time at decorated graves. Blending Indigenous and Catholic traditions, the celebration was added to UNESCO's list of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity in 2008.
