Calan Gaeaf
When the veil between worlds grows thin.

When is Calan Gaeaf?
Every year on November 1.
What is Calan Gaeaf?
Calan Gaeaf, the first day of winter in the old Welsh calendar, falls on November 1 and closes the harvest season. The night before, Nos Calan Gaeaf, was an ysbrydnos, a spirit night, when people lit bonfires, marked stones with their names and avoided churchyards and crossroads. Tales warned of the ladi wen, a white lady, and the hwch ddu gwta, a tailless black sow said to chase stragglers home.
