Independence Day
Free spirit, proud heritage.

When is Independence Day?
Every year on November 18.
What is Independence Day?
Morocco's Independence Day on November 18 recalls 1955, when Sultan Mohammed V, back from two years of exile imposed by France, announced the end of the French protectorate in his Throne Day speech. Full independence followed in March 1956, and the sultan later took the title of king. The day is a national holiday marked with flags, official ceremonies, concerts and tributes to the independence movement.
