Bahrain National Day
Two days, one island, one celebration.
When is Bahrain National Day?
Every year on December 16.
What is Bahrain National Day?
Bahrain's National Day on December 16 commemorates the founding of the modern state of Bahrain by Ahmed Al Fateh in 1783, and the accession of Sheikh Isa bin Salman Al Khalifa as ruler on December 16, 1961. Bahrain became fully independent from Britain in August 1971, and the December celebrations grew into the country's main national festival. Streets and buildings are decked in red and white, and the holiday brings fireworks, concerts and heritage events across the islands.
