World Hello Day

When is World Hello Day?

Every year on November 21.

What is World Hello Day?

World Hello Day on November 21 was started in 1973 by two brothers, Brian and Michael McCormack, in response to the Yom Kippur War between Israel and its Arab neighbours. Their idea was that conflicts begin when people stop talking, so the day asks everyone to greet at least ten people. Since then it has been observed in many countries, and people mark it by saying hello to strangers, neighbours and anyone they have not spoken to in a while.

How to celebrate
