What is International Universal Health Coverage Day?
International Universal Health Coverage Day on December 12 was proclaimed by the UN General Assembly in 2017. The date recalls a UN resolution of December 12, 2012, calling on countries to make sure everyone can get the health care they need without being pushed into poverty to pay for it. Around half the world's people still lack access to essential health services, and the day is used to campaign for stronger primary care, fair financing and health workers where they are needed most.
