Harambee! — Let's Pull Together!

When is Kenya Independence Day?
Every year on December 12.
What is Kenya Independence Day?
Kenya became independent from Britain on December 12, 1963, after years of struggle that included the Mau Mau uprising of the 1950s. Jomo Kenyatta, who had been imprisoned by the colonial authorities, became the country's first prime minister and later its first president. The anniversary is celebrated as Jamhuri Day with flag ceremonies, a presidential address, parades and music across the country.
