Saturnalia
Io, Saturnalia!

When is Saturnalia?
From December 17 to December 23.
What is Saturnalia?
Saturnalia was the ancient Roman festival in honour of Saturn, god of sowing and agriculture, which began on December 17 and over time stretched to a week. Rome turned upside down for the holiday: work and business stopped, masters sometimes served their slaves at table, people wore the felt cap of freed slaves, and everyone greeted each other with Io Saturnalia. Romans exchanged small gifts such as candles and clay figurines, and several of these customs later found their way into Christmas and New Year celebrations.
