When is National Save the Eagles Day?

Every year on January 10.

What is National Save the Eagles Day?

National Save the Eagles Day on January 10 celebrates one of the great conservation success stories in the United States. The bald eagle, the national bird, had fallen to only a few hundred nesting pairs in the lower 48 states by the 1960s, largely because the pesticide DDT thinned its eggshells. After DDT was banned in 1972 and the bird was protected by law, numbers recovered so well that it was removed from the endangered species list in 2007, and the day encourages people to keep protecting eagles and their habitats.
