What is National Gluten Free Day?
National Gluten-Free Day on January 11 raises awareness of what it means to live without gluten, the protein found in wheat, barley and rye. For people with coeliac disease, an autoimmune condition affecting about one in a hundred people, even small amounts of gluten damage the small intestine, so cross-contamination in kitchens matters as much as ingredients. The day encourages restaurants and hosts to label food clearly and offer safe options, and invites everyone to try naturally gluten-free foods such as rice, corn, potatoes and buckwheat.
How to celebrate
Mark the day with a poster made in Dayfeed — pick your favourite photo as the background, share it to your story or group chat, and set a reminder so you never miss it next year.
