Canada National Day of Remembrance and Action on Violence Against Women
Remember. Reflect. Act.

When is Canada National Day of Remembrance and Action on Violence Against Women?
Every year on December 6.
What is Canada National Day of Remembrance and Action on Violence Against Women?
Canada's National Day of Remembrance and Action on Violence against Women on December 6 was established by Parliament in 1991. It marks the anniversary of the 1989 shooting at the École Polytechnique in Montreal, where fourteen women were murdered because they were women. Canadians mark the day with vigils, moments of silence and flags at half-mast, and use it to act against gender-based violence today.
