International Day of Epidemic Preparedness
Prepare today, protect tomorrow.

When is International Day of Epidemic Preparedness?
Every year on December 27.
What is International Day of Epidemic Preparedness?
The International Day of Epidemic Preparedness on December 27 was proclaimed by the UN General Assembly in December 2020, in the middle of the COVID-19 pandemic. The date is the birthday of Louis Pasteur, born in 1822, whose work on germs and vaccines laid foundations of modern public health. The day calls on governments and communities to invest in strong health systems, early warning, research and cooperation, so the next outbreak can be stopped before it becomes a pandemic.
