When is International Cello Day?
Every year on December 29.
What is International Cello Day?
International Cello Day on December 29 celebrates the cello on the birthday of the Catalan cellist Pablo Casals, born in 1876. Casals rediscovered Bach's six Cello Suites, which had been largely forgotten, and his recordings made them part of every cellist's life; he was also a lifelong campaigner for peace. Cellists mark the day with concerts, online performances and lessons, and listeners are invited to hear the instrument live.
