International Day of Zero Tolerance to Female Genital Mutilation
Every girl deserves to grow up whole.

When is International Day of Zero Tolerance to Female Genital Mutilation?
Every year on February 6.
What is International Day of Zero Tolerance to Female Genital Mutilation?
The International Day of Zero Tolerance for Female Genital Mutilation on February 6 has been recognised by the UN General Assembly since 2012, building on a call first made by African women's groups in 2003. Female genital mutilation covers procedures that injure or remove a girl's external genitals for non-medical reasons; more than 230 million girls and women alive today have undergone it, mostly in parts of Africa, the Middle East and Asia. The day supports survivors and the communities, health workers and religious leaders working to end the practice, which causes lifelong pain and health risks and is recognised as a violation of human rights.
