Edinburgh Science Festival
Two weeks of wonder.

When is Edinburgh Science Festival?
From April 3 to April 18.
What is Edinburgh Science Festival?
The Edinburgh Science Festival, founded in 1989 by the Edinburgh Science Foundation, is the United Kingdom's largest science festival and one of the biggest in Europe, transforming Scotland's capital into a two-week laboratory of exhibits, workshops, lectures and family activities every spring. The inaugural festival was presided over by Valentina Tereshkova, the first woman in space, and over the years has welcomed figures like Richard Dawkins, Brian Cox and Dame Jocelyn Bell Burnell. The programme covers everything from personal health to planetary challenges, with a family hub at the City Art Centre, school shows, late-night debates and online workshops. The exact dates shift each year but the festival reliably fills the second half of March and the first half of April.
