Autism Acceptance Day

When is Autism Acceptance Day?

Every year on April 2.

What is Autism Acceptance Day?

Autism Acceptance Day, observed on April 2 alongside the United Nations' World Autism Awareness Day, is the community-led counterpart that reframes the conversation from awareness to acceptance. While World Autism Awareness Day, established by the UN in 2007, highlights diagnosis rates, research and the diversity of the spectrum, Acceptance Day focuses on moving autistic people from being the object of awareness campaigns to being heard, supported and included in everyday life. Schools, workplaces and families are invited to read autistic authors, listen to autistic voices, and reconsider the small habits — language, lighting, expectations — that can make a real difference. The day pairs naturally with Autism Acceptance Month throughout April.
