What is World Redhead Day?
World Redhead Day on May 26th celebrates one of nature's rarest hair colors — found in only 1–2% of the world's population. What began with Dutch artist Bart Rouwenhorst's 2005 casting call for red-haired models, which unexpectedly drew huge crowds, grew into annual Redhead Days festivals in the Netherlands and eventually a global movement. The day champions red hair in all its shades — from strawberry blonde to deep auburn — and turns what was once a target for teasing into a source of community pride.
