National Dandelion Day
Look closer. It's not a weed.

When is National Dandelion Day?
Every year on April 5.
What is National Dandelion Day?
National Dandelion Day, observed each April 5, is the unofficial celebration of the small, stubborn, sun-yellow flower that most people pull out of their lawns and a few people put in their salads. The day nods to a plant whose taproot can punch 18 inches into compacted soil, whose seeds travel on the wind with parachutes of fluff, and whose greens out-spinach in vitamins A, C and K. The Dandelion Festival in Dover, Ohio — a community event that started in 1996 — is the best-known local anchor, and the holiday has spread online through nature lovers, gardeners and herbalists who want the rest of us to slow down and notice what's growing between the cracks. Folk medicines on four continents have used the plant for digestion, liver support and skin care for centuries.
