International Human Solidarity Day

When is International Human Solidarity Day?

Every year on December 20.

What is International Human Solidarity Day?

International Human Solidarity Day on December 20 was proclaimed by the UN General Assembly in 2005 and first observed in 2006. It celebrates solidarity as one of the basic values of relations between people and nations: the idea that those who have more share with those who have less, and that no one is left behind. The day is used to promote action on poverty and inequality, and to encourage people to support community projects, charities and humanitarian appeals.
