What is International Day of Persons with Disabilities?
The International Day of Persons with Disabilities on December 3 has been observed since 1992 by decision of the UN General Assembly. About 1.3 billion people, or one in six worldwide, live with a significant disability and face barriers in buildings, transport, education, work and technology. The day promotes the rights set out in the UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities and calls for a world designed with everyone in mind.
