International Day for Biosphere Reserves
Where people and nature thrive.

When is International Day for Biosphere Reserves?
Every year on November 3.
What is International Day for Biosphere Reserves?
The International Day for Biosphere Reserves on November 3 was proclaimed by UNESCO and first celebrated in 2022. Biosphere reserves are areas where people live and work alongside protected nature, testing ways to balance conservation with farming, tourism and local livelihoods. There are now more than 750 of them in over 130 countries, and the day is marked with guided walks, school visits and local events in the reserves.
