What is Patriot Day?
Patriot Day honours the memory of the 2,977 people killed in the attacks of September 11, 2001, and the 411 emergency responders who died trying to save them. Across the United States flags fly at half-staff and a moment of silence is held at 8:46 a.m., the minute the first plane struck. Communities gather at memorials and firehouses to remember those lost and to thank those who still answer the call.
