International Invention Day
Invent something the world needs.

When is International Invention Day?
Every year on May 16.
What is International Invention Day?
International Invention Day, observed on May 16, celebrates the creative spark behind every invention — from the wheel and the printing press to the smartphone and the mRNA vaccine — and the people whose curiosity and persistence turn an idea into a tool the world uses. Founded by the engineering software company Vention, the day exists to honor past inventors whose breakthroughs reshaped daily life, to spotlight the working inventors of today, and to plant the seed in the next generation by encouraging kids and students to tinker, prototype, fail, and try again. The day pairs naturally with related observances: National Inventors' Day in February, National Kid Inventors' Day in January, and National Inventors Month in August.
