What is Tisha B'Av?
Tisha B'Av is a solemn Jewish day of mourning and fasting, remembering the destruction of both Temples in Jerusalem and other tragedies in Jewish history. Observed on the 9th of Av (July 22–23 in 2026), it involves fasting, reading the Book of Lamentations, and quiet reflection. Its roots stretch back over 2,500 years to the fall of the First Temple in 586 BCE.
