Pi Approximation Day
Close enough to celebrate: 22/7.
When is Pi Approximation Day?
Every year on July 22.
What is Pi Approximation Day?
Pi Approximation Day celebrates the fraction 22/7, a handy estimate of π (about 3.1429) — hence the date 22/7. A summery, lighter cousin of Pi Day (March 14), it's popular in schools and science centers, with games, food, and puzzles. The approximation dates back over 2,000 years to Archimedes, who used it to bound the value of pi.
