Every year on December 14.
What is Day of African Sport?
The Day of African Sport on December 14 is marked by the African Union to celebrate the role of sport on the continent. Africa has produced legendary distance runners from Ethiopia and Kenya, football stars who play in the world's biggest leagues, and champions in boxing, athletics and basketball. The day highlights sport as a way to promote health, peace and opportunity for young people, and calls for investment in facilities and grassroots programmes.
