Every year on December 5.
What is World Soil Day?
World Soil Day on December 5 was proposed by the International Union of Soil Sciences in 2002 and adopted by the UN General Assembly, with the first official observance in 2014. The date honours King Bhumibol of Thailand, a champion of the day. Healthy soil grows most of our food, filters water and stores carbon, yet erosion, pollution and overuse are degrading it, and the day promotes ways of farming and building that protect it.
