World Dolphin Day

When is World Dolphin Day?

Every year on September 12.

What is World Dolphin Day?

World Dolphin Day, observed on September 12th, was established in 2022 by Sea Shepherd Global to commemorate the deadliest recorded cetacean slaughter in modern history — the September 12, 2021 killing of more than 1,400 white-sided dolphins off the Faroe Islands. The day raises awareness about the ongoing "grind" hunt and supports conservation of one of the ocean's most intelligent species.

How to celebrate

Mark the day with a poster made in Dayfeed — pick your favourite photo as the background, share it to your story or group chat, and set a reminder so you never miss it next year.
