What is Armed Forces Day (US)?
Armed Forces Day, held on the third Saturday of May, thanks everyone serving in the US Army, Navy, Air Force, Marine Corps, Space Force and Coast Guard. President Harry Truman created it in 1949 to replace the separate days each branch once kept, after the services were unified under the Department of Defense. Bases open their gates for tours, air shows and parades, and the whole of May is National Military Appreciation Month.
