What is West Indian Day Parade?
The West Indian Day Parade fills Brooklyn's Eastern Parkway every Labor Day with Caribbean music, dance, and elaborate feathered costumes, drawing around two million spectators and participants. Founded by Trinidadian immigrant Jesse Waddle in the 1920s and moved to its current Labor Day slot in the 1960s, it is one of the largest cultural celebrations in North America.
