What is Sukkot?

Sukkot, the Feast of Tabernacles, begins five days after Yom Kippur on the 15th of Tishrei and lasts seven days. Families build and eat meals in a sukkah — a temporary hut with a roof of natural materials — to remember the Israelites' forty years in the desert. The festival also marks the autumn harvest.
