What is Seed Gathering Season?
Seed Gathering Season, observed in the UK from late September through October, invites communities to collect seeds from local trees, flowers, and fruits as autumn sets in. Launched in the early 2000s by The Tree Council under Director of Trees Jon Stokes, the season started as a single day and expanded to a month so different species' ripening times could all be included. Seed swaps, guided walks, and workshops teach plant identification and seed collection while supporting biodiversity and native species preservation.
