Reformation Day

When is Reformation Day?

Every year on October 31.

What is Reformation Day?

Reformation Day marks October 31, 1517, when Martin Luther made public his 95 Theses against the sale of indulgences in Wittenberg. The protest set off the Protestant Reformation, which split Western Christianity and reshaped Europe's churches, languages and politics. It is a public holiday in several German states and is marked with church services, concerts and Luther-themed events.
