What is Miraç Kandili?
Miraç Kandili commemorates the Isra and Mi'raj — the night journey and ascension of the Prophet Muhammad from Mecca to Jerusalem and then to the heavens. Observed on the 27th of Rajab, it is one of the most significant nights in the Islamic calendar. In Turkey mosques hold special prayers, Quranic recitations, and minarets are illuminated throughout the night.
